Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday all took place last weekend. It’s safe to say that November was a hectic month for everyone — businesses and consumers alike.
In last month’s roundup, Adobe predicted that Black Friday sales would reach $3 billion this year. According to Inc., consumers spent $3.34 billion online alone on Black Friday. And an increasing number of shoppers took advantage of pre-Black Friday deals, with $1.9 billion reportedly spent online just on Thanksgiving Day! Black Friday is one of the most highly-anticipated shopping days — with deals starting earlier and expanding more every year — so these statistics should come as no surprise.
What is surprising, however, is the fact that many businesses still aren’t incorporating mobile marketing into their strategy. We’re nearing the end of 2016 and still only 3% of digital marketers think local businesses are effectively targeting mobile customers this holiday season.
In addition to the holiday shopping craze, November has been a busy month for the world of social media. Instagram launched Live Video and Instagram Direct, and Facebook’s been in the spotlight after admitting there were errors in its system that led to several inaccurate metrics. But what’s a Thanksgiving holiday without a little drama, right?
